Peter in the Navy pays homage to the ancient traditions of the Royal Navy.
Historically, the British Navy had to ensure that gunpowder remained flammable even if accidentally wetted with gin during transport. To test its "strength," sailors would wet the powder with the spirit and try to light it: if it burned, the gin was approved.
This historic measurement, used until 1890, still defines Navy Strength today as a spirit with an alcohol content above 57.15% Vol. A powerful gin faithful to history, while maintaining the elegance of the Peter in Florence brand.
